I am thinking of doing a nail technician course to obtain my certificate. I want to start my own business that caters to people that cannot get to the salon a somewhat mobile service I would come to them and would include elderly clients who cannot get out much and people with mobility problems as well as just being a nail technician that would come to anyone’s home to do their nails. I would only do hands and would not include pedicures, I will be more into nail art and newer techniques for these such as gel and refill and gel nail extensions and polygel. Any suggestions on this?

I can offer you some suggestions based on my knowledge and experience:

Begin by enrolling in a recognized nail technician course to acquire essential skills in manicures, gel polish, acrylics and polygel. This education covers nail anatomy, hygiene, safety and customer service. Depending on your location, passing a board exam and securing a license may be required.

Next invest in key equipment such as a portable manicure table, nail lamp, drill, sterilizer, nail kit and assorted nail products. Additionally ensure you have a reliable vehicle, a smartphone and an online platform for seamless appointment scheduling and payments.

To attract customers, leverage social media, flyers, referrals and online platforms to showcase your work. Consider implementing promotions like discounts, loyalty programs and gift cards to foster repeat business and encourage referrals.
