How does it work?
Each hair follicle experiences regular phases of growth and transition.
This process is called the hair growth cycle.
Anagen Phase
In this growth phase, the hair roots are activated and the production of new hair begins.
The length of this phase is dependent upon age, sex, and individual metabolism.
Catagen Phase
In this transitional phase, lasting about 2 to 3 weeks, the hair roots cease their cell production and the lower part of the hair particle is shortened. The hair separates from the dermal papilla and atrophies. The hair follicle shrinks.
Telogen Phase
The last phase of the cycle is described as the resting phase of the hair, in which approximately 10-15% of all hair is at. The old hair is released and the hair follicle rests until the hair falls out. The production of new hair cells begins only once this process is completed.
